Position Function SummaryUnder the general direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant assists in completing the accounting, grant, and compliance management activities of La Familia Medical Center and provides financial and grant-related information to management. This position performs a broad scope of professional accounting activities, requiring the application of accounting principles and practices in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state, and local laws and regulations, applicable grant terms and conditions, other contractual obligations, and LFMC's Governing Board–approved financial policies.Essential ResponsibilitiesReceive daily cash bags and payment batch reconciliation reports from clinics, deposit cash receipts daily, and post transactions to the general ledger.Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.Assist with depreciation, amortization, and disposal entries for fixed assets for internal and grant reporting purposes.Maintain grant files, including executed grants and cooperative agreements, approved budgets, and required supporting documentation.Work with the Development department to maintain the grants dashboard, including personnel allocations, reporting timelines, and invoicing requirements.Prepare and submit required financial reports and invoices to funders in accordance with grant agreements.Prepare monthly journal entries to recognize grant revenue.Ensure grant cost allocations are accurate and properly recorded within the MIP fund accounting system.Provide monthly grant reports to leadership and managers.Assist with procurement verification to ensure authorized purchases comply with grant terms, funding requirements, and LFMC policies.Assist in the annual audit by preparing worksheets, accounting schedules, and supporting operational documentation.Education, Experience And Skills/TrainingAssociate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of job‑related grant accounting experience.
