Job Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Accounting Department in all accounting functions and related operations.  Equally important is the responsibility of assisting all management in the prevention and detection of any unethical or illegal behavior or any company policy violations that become apparent in the performance of the accounting and administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to.
  • Communicate any unethical, illegal, or policy violations to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
  • Communicate recommendations for improvements in operations or administrative procedures to the Chief Financial Officer / Accounting Manager / Controller (as applicable).
  • Process payroll accurately and on time.
  • Complete general ledger closing procedures (data input, reconciliations, etc.).
  • Maintain fixed asset records and related accounting schedules.
  • Prepare bank and account reconciliations.
  • Manage daily cash activity, including recording transactions, maintaining cash balances, and processing federal cash draws (as applicable).
  • Draft and distribute routine financial and accounting communications (email, memos) to other departments.
  • Perform quarterly cash audits at various sites.
  • Support preparation of annual grant budgets.
  • Support preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports at fiscal year-end.
  • Support preparation of the UDS report.
  • Prepare monthly billings for other agencies, as necessary.
  • Support year-end physical inventories, as needed.
  • Provide training and cross-training for accounting staff, as needed.
  • Other accounting-related duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Accounting / Business Courses preferred.
  • Accounting Experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel strongly preferred
