Staff Accountant (Hybrid)

Location: Near Schenectady, NY
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

Position Overview

Our established client is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This hybrid role supports core accounting operations and works closely with senior accounting leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build hands-on experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Reconciliations

• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with accounting standards
• Assist with monthly and quarterly account reconciliations across multiple financial areas
• Support revenue tracking and prepare related reconciliation reports
• Perform routine cash and payment reconciliations

Audit & Reporting Support

• Assist with gathering documentation and responding to audit requests
• Support grant accounting, reporting, and reimbursement activities
• Help maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with senior accounting staff and leadership on financial processes
• Assist with special projects and financial reporting as needed
• Support ongoing improvements to accounting processes and workflows

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 0-3 years of accounting or finance experience
• Basic understanding of general ledger accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems preferred
• Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
