Staff Accountant

Empowered Staffing is partnered with a leading healthcare real estate investment and management company with a nationwide portfolio of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and post-acute care facilities. As the company continues to grow, it is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its team in Skokie to manage day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

• Process and record accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and credit card transactions.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for the monthly close.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance-sheet accounts, and intercompany activity.
• Track rent and other payments received from facility operators.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned properties and ownership entities.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial-statement preparation.
• Prepare account schedules, cash-flow projections, and financial-reporting support.
• Monitor facility operators’ compliance with lease-related financial and reporting requirements.
• Maintain fixed-asset and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with new-property acquisitions, dispositions, and legal-entity setup.
• Support year-end audits and provide requested documentation to auditors.
• Research account discrepancies and help resolve outstanding accounting issues.
• Complete ad hoc assignments for the accounting and asset-management teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
• Previous accounting experience, including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and the monthly close process.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial records.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, properties, and legal entities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with real estate, property, portfolio, or multi-entity accounting.
• Experience using Yardi or a comparable property-management and accounting platform.
• Exposure to cash-flow projections, fixed assets, audits, or property acquisitions.
