As a Staff Accountant on our Financial Accounting team, you'll play a key role in maintaining the financial strength and integrity of the organization. Summary:
The Staff Accountant position performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to monthly journal entries, monthly financial statement preparation, state and federal regulatory reporting and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Must have the ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask to meet deadlines and handle urgent matters. Adheres to policies, procedures, and State and Federal regulations. Participates in the annual audit process.

Formal Education Required:
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience & Training Required:
-Two (2) years of professional experience in health care or industry accounting department.
-Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
-Excellent computer literacy
-High level of attention to detail
-Ability to manage, work on and complete multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure to meet deadlines
-Ability to work and foster a team environment

Essential Functions:

  1. Creates, maintains, coordinates, analyzes and prepares general ledger financial and statistical data, journal entries and reports. Ensures accuracy and completeness of various sub-ledger accounts.
  1. Performs variance analyses on balance sheet and operating (P&L) accounts to verify and maintain the integrity of the financial statements.
  1. Prepares monthly and quarterly state and federal financial regulatory filings for CMS and the Ohio Department of Insurance.
  1. Prepares audit schedules, formulates explanation of variance and provides supplementary data for internal and external audits.
  1. Assists and interacts with other departments to provide financial information such as account analysis, journal entry description, and flow of data prepared by other professionals. Recommends procedures to various departments such to improve work efficiency.


Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
-Must possess good mathematical skills, decision making, and interpersonal skills in order to interact with other finance and other corporate departments.
-Must possess strong customer service skills and effectively work with the Financial Reporting team members
-Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word
-In-depth knowledge of concepts, best practices, and internal controls within Financial Reporting.
-Experience using General Ledger ERP (Lawson) software is a plus
-Must maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and financial records
-Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
