Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and merchant processing accounts
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
  • Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience (fitness, retail, or multi-location business experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure
  • Experience with multi-location or franchise business accounting
  • Familiarity with fitness industry membership/billing platforms
