Good Faith Pay Range: In accordance with Virginia law, the good-faith pay range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, skills, and other legitimate business factors.

This is an on-site position located at our Virginia Beach campus.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will execute general ledger account reconciliations, monthly and ad hoc reporting, and work with large sets of data. Interact with other members of the University administrative staff and campuses to ensure accounting processes and procedures are being followed.

Responsibilities

• Performs general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors
• Support timely monthly and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and accruals
• Assists in providing schedules and commentary with respects to P&L account results and variances
• Assist in audit schedules as required
• Interact with University and campus administrative staff regarding accounting processes and procedures
• Other Accounting duties as necessary.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred or 3 years work experience in the accounting field -
• Work experience to include general ledger accounting for multiple locations including, but not limited to, journal entry, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Previous experience in Microsoft General Dynamics (Great Plains) system a plus

• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure at times
• Ability to quickly master new concepts, programs, and computer applications- Ability to work with large sets of data
• High proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel (VLOOKUP and pivot tables)
