STAFF ACCOUNTANT

A growing, multi-location organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional with 1–2 years of general ledger experience who is looking to continue developing their accounting skills within a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and the monthly close process.

OVERVIEW OF THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Prepare and post journal entries
Perform bank and general ledger account reconciliations
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
Assist with preparation and analysis of financial statements
Research and resolve account discrepancies
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting
Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts
Support audit and tax requests
Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc accounting projects
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
1–2 years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience
Understanding of fundamental accounting principles
Strong knowledge of debits, credits, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Experience assisting with month-end close
Ability to understand and analyze financial statements
Strong Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Experience with an ERP or accounting system preferred
