DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This role supports the Plan Review & Engineering group in maintaining efficient operations, balancing both administrative oversight and hands-on activities to ensure the timely delivery of products and services that meet expectations.

  • Investigates and makes recommendations for addressing issues of medium to high complexity and/or sensitivity.
  • Manage and oversee consultants contracts, budgets, final deliverables.
  • Compile data, produce information and interprets results through conclusion or recommendation formulation.
  • Monitor and make recommendations to adjust programmed funding for planned capital improvements.
  • Track CIP's budgets, and coordinate planned improvements with internal teams.
  • Evaluate operational and financial data to inform decision-making, budgeting, and performance reporting.
  • Prepare business communications, formal requests, supporting documents, and compliance reports.
  • Oversee approval and renewal processes for software and hardware while ensuring continuity of services.
  • Utilize GIS tools to maintain planning data and oversee Stormwater Master Plan.
  • Lead or support special projects and initiatives as assigned, providing both guidance and hands-on execution as needed.
  • Participates in the development of policies and processes manuals, for master planning. Analyzes and reviews management practices and procedures and develops recommendations for improvement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position is physically comfortable; the individual has some discretion about walking, standing, etc.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works position at the Tier III Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.

Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three (3) years of professional administrative, financial or analytical experience related to the type of work being performed are required.

Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
