    Job Description

    Job Summary

    Provide timely, effective, and accurate secretarial and clerical support to the staff, manager, and Director of assigned department(s).

    Accurate performance and recording of electrocardiographs, stress tests, and rhythm strips for use in the diagnosis of patient illness. Responsible for hooking up patients for holter and event monitors, uploading information into Cerner, confirming that cardiologists read the results, and billing the professional and technical fees.

    Responsibilities

    1. Responsible for functions as assigned

    2. Provide assistance as assigned which includes recording and typing of meeting minutes, policies and procedures, reports and other

    correspondence and distribution as necessary.

    1. Answer the telephone for the department, providing assistance, referring/routing calls and taking messages as appropriate.

    2. Receive/screen customers to the Department. Complete verifications and other requests. Copy records as needed. Assist with the completion of

    forms. Route various items to the appropriate staff within the department. Complete correspondence associated with needs of department.

    1. Provide support to the Department through the performance of various other clerical duties.

    2. Assists with system application including preparation and distribution of reports.

    • Accurately perform and record electrocardiograms, stress tests, and rhythm strips for use in the diagnosis of patient illness.

    • Accurate skin prep and lead placement to hook up 24 hour Holter monitors.

    • Instruct patient on what is to occur during various tests.

    • Perform adequate skin preparation on patient and attach electrodes in appropriate areas. Obtain high quality tracings.

    • Identify abnormalities and take appropriate action.

    • Notify physicians or nursing staff of abnormal findings.

    • Independently prioritize multiple demands/requests for testing,respond to trauma, codes, med alerts and stroke calls.

    • Accurate transcription of physician interpretations for inclusion in patient records.

    • Perform filing and charting of test results in an accurate and timely manner.

    • Properly care for and clean equipment within the department.

    • Maintain an adequate stock of supplies within the department.

    • Interact with various departments, personnel, and physicians.

    • Assist physicians with various procedures and projects.

    • Identify, resolve, or report real or potential customer concerns.

    • Participate in continuing education and inservice programs.

    • Orient and train employees as assigned.

    • Use courteous, positive, and effective verbal and non-verbal communication utilizing interpersonal skills and technology available.

    • Schedules, registers, and verifies insurance for event monitor patients, as well as echo and nuclear stress tests as needed.

    • Manages events for cardiac imaging office (CAMC cardiology group), cardiac rehab, Chapmanville cardiology, CAMC EP docs, Goad & Groves, nearby nursing home, several referring outside physicians, clinics, WCH pediatric patients and working with Drs Parsons, Garmany, Patel, General patients

    • Manages critical results notifications.

    • Education and standardization across the system to all areas with monitors to ensure billing and ordering the same way.

    • Education of physicians.

    • Works with IS to help in builds of charges.

    The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
