Job Summary:

The Staff Assistant will provide support to the University Police - Public Safety Division as well as the University Police - Administrative Division.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and supervising daily operations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures is maintained
  • Preparation of complex activity reports and emergent notifications
  • Review and approve official departmental documentation
  • Organizing and scheduling contract department personnel and post assignments based on departmental and campus needs,
  • Maintaining and updating files for contract security personnel (Training, Education, counseling, etc.)
  • Processing all Public Safety Daily Activity reports
  • Reviewing all entries in the Automated Report Management System (ARMS) and assisting in additional administrative operational tasks where applicable

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate''s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Current NYS Security Guard license required. A valid NYS Driver''s License is required. Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong organizational & planning skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites along with various other computer programs. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Security operations in the public or private sector is preferred. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills preferred. Adequate knowledge of the SUNY system, Upstate Medical University, and the University Police Department preferred. Leadership experience preferred.
