The Staff Associate, Advisory (Data Analytics; Business Intelligence & Technology) is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who wants to build experience at the intersection of accounting, finance, data, and technology. The role supports client engagements that transform complex data into accurate, actionable insights through data preparation, analysis, visualization, and reporting. You will work across multiple projects, collaborate directly with clients and internal teams, and develop a practical understanding of how data supports financial and operational decision-making. The position also offers hands-on exposure to modern analytics platforms, generative AI tools, and the AI-enabled workflows being developed by our WissLabs innovation team.
Data Analytics Responsibilities
Collect, clean, transform, and organize financial and operational data from accounting systems, spreadsheets, databases, and other client sources.
Perform data validation, reconciliations, and quality-control procedures to identify incomplete, inconsistent, duplicate, or inaccurate records.
Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, business drivers, and opportunities for process improvement.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, data models, and visualizations using tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar platforms.
Write and refine queries using SQL and other data tools to extract, combine, and analyze information from multiple sources.
Support data integration and automation activities, including repeatable data-preparation workflows and connections between source systems and reporting tools.
Collaborate with clients and engagement teams to gather business requirements, define key performance indicators, and translate questions into analytical solutions.
Prepare clear summaries and presentations that communicate analytical findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommended actions to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Document data sources, calculation logic, data definitions, analytical procedures, and reporting processes to support consistency and knowledge transfer.
Apply generative AI and LLM tools, including Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar solutions, to accelerate data preparation, analysis, documentation, and report generation while validating outputs for accuracy.
Partner with the WissLabs innovation team on experiments involving AI-assisted analytics, natural-language querying, automated variance analysis, and finance-focused data workflows.
Research and evaluate emerging analytics, AI, and finance technology tools for potential client applications.
Participate in quality assurance procedures and ensure analyses and deliverables are accurate, complete, reproducible, and aligned with client expectations.
Client-facing responsibilities:
Participate in and, as experience grows, lead client meetings to gather requirements, present findings, and explain analytical solutions.
Support the preparation of Statements of Work (SOW), project plans, and scoping estimates for data analytics engagements.
Manage assigned tasks across multiple projects, communicate status and risks, and consistently meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field (required).
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to data accuracy, completeness, and detail.
Coursework, internships, or project experience using Microsoft Excel and at least one data visualization tool, such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
Familiarity with SQL, relational data concepts, data modeling, or a programming language used for analysis, such as Python or R, is preferred.
Ability to interpret business and financial information and communicate findings clearly through written summaries, presentations, dashboards, and client discussions.
Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
Familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot, along with a genuine interest in applying LLMs responsibly to finance and analytics work. Hands-on coursework, projects, or prior experimentation are welcome.
