Title Staff Associate, Educator Licensure and Professional Education (Internal Only) Department Summary

The Staff Associate: Educator Licensure and Professional Education is a key position in terms of guiding a diverse group of students on the path to becoming successful teachers and professional support personnel. The Staff Associate serves as BSU's Educator Licensure Officer.

Position Summary

The primary duties of the Staff Associate, Educator Licensure and Professional Education are:

Serve as BSU's Educator Licensure Officer to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Educator Licensure and Professional Education, ensuring adherence to all DESE and BSU regulations pertaining to:

Electronic verification and submission of completion for BSU Educator Licensure and Endorsement programs; Management of BSU's Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) through Watermark's Student Learning and Licensure or other tools as needed; Ensure accurate and timely communication with CEHS faculty and staff, PreK-12 district partners, and the Educator Licensure and Professional Education Field Placement Coordinator to ensure field experiences meet MA DESE licensure requirements; Responsible for reporting functions relating to BSU educator licensure programs, US Department of Education, and MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education program approval and national approval.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Assistant Dean

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Field Placement Coordinator

Standard Schedule: Monday through Fridays 9am-5pm

This is a 12 Months, Full-Time position which is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule in accordance with BSU's remote work policy.

This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties

  1. Verify completion of BSU's MA State approved initial and professional licensure and educator endorsement preparation programs via BSU Degree Works, BSU Candidate Assessment of Performance through Student Learning and Licensure, and MA DESE Educator Licensure and Renewal (ELAR) System and MA DESE Early ID online platform.

  2. Provide timely response, verification, and official documentation of requests from BSU program completers seeking educator licensure outside of MA.

  3. Perform all functions pertinent to the role of CAP Manager for BSU initial teacher candidates including training, technology troubleshooting, and ongoing support for Program Supervisors (PS's), Supervising Practitioners (SP's), and Teacher Candidates (TC's), and review determination of candidates as being Ready to Teach for final submissions to DESE.

  4. Perform all functions pertinent to the role of MA Educator Licensure Officer

  5. Serve on Licensure Curriculum Review Committee

  6. Serve on statewide professional education committees as assigned

  7. Serve as liaison to BSU Professional Development Partners

  8. Contribute to information gathering and reporting for both the State Annual Report and Title II federal report.

  9. Utilizing equity minded practices, work cooperatively and collegially with program faculty, Field Placement Coordinator, Assistant Dean, and PreK-12 schools to develop, organize, implement, and evaluate procedures for candidate sites.

  10. Supervision of Field Placement Coordinator

Required Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of MA DESE Licensure regulations and requirements

  2. Sufficient familiarity of DESE licensure program requirements to serve as Educator Licensure Officer

  3. Familiarity with PreK-12 school administration structure

  4. Exemplary oral and written communication skills

5, Ability to work independently with professional judgment.

  1. Demonstrated ability of professional leadership, team building, goal-oriented planning, problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills

  2. Experience using or ability to learn all Microsoft Office Applications, Zoom

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education or related field.
  • Educator's License issued by MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
