The School of Medicine (SOM) Counseling Services and the University Counseling Center (UCC) exist to ensure healthy and thriving lives for Pitts diverse student population.

To serve the needs of medical school community, we employ a multidisciplinary staff of mental health professionals, including licensed professional counselors, psychologists, and social workers in various mental health disciplines.

The SOM Staff Counselor will provide direct and indirect services to students including but not limited to, individual, relationship, and group therapy, clinical consultation, outreach programming, and participate in supervision and training as selected and/or assigned. The Staff Counselor will have the opportunity to serve on committees within and outside of the medical school

Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical psychotherapy services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a diverse population of students/clients within the Universitys Counseling Center. Develops treatment plans and utilizes specialized techniques to foster student development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Oversees comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and case reviews. Supervises interns and fellows and provides outreach programming and consultation. Provides on-call emergency coverage, prepares reports, and performs administrative duties.
