Deputy Systems Engineering Lead is responsible for the supporting the SEIT Lead in the execution of the overall systems engineering, integration, and test (SEIT) effort on a program element. The Deputy SEIT Lead will specifically focus on the internal execution of SEIT activities and processes in support of key milestone events such as Flight Design Review (FDR), IPR, CDR, TIMs/TEMs and key test events. The ideal candidate ensures the integrity of engineering processes and timely development of core engineering work products and interfaces with the overall SEIT Lead and Engineering Program Manager, Chief Engineer, Chief System Architect, and other engineering team Leads. The Deputy Systems Engineering Lead will support the SEIT Lead ensure the integrity of the systems engineering processes, including assigned engineering personnel, understanding and following Engineering MS Process documents to achieve timely and compliant development of core and emerging systems engineering work products.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support technical management and execution of a team of engineering personnel consisting of RSE's and Test personnel
  • Support the SEIT Lead plan, execute, and close out program reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, FDR, IPR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW), system requirements, in coordination with the SEIT Lead.
  • Support program Verification & Validation activities
  • Coordinate the control and verification of interface requirements throughout the program lifecycle
  • Support the collection and management of key systems engineering metrics and Technical Performance Measures
  • Continually coordinate between the SEIT Lead, Chief Engineer, System Architect and Engineering Program Manager to support the SEIT Lead ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline, including identification of technical debt and coordination of system/product componentry integration across the product teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 12 Years with BS; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD
  • Understanding of systems engineering and systems integration principles and processes
  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
  • Experience in systems development, integration, and test.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience in leading a large-scale DoD EMD systems integration and test effort
  • Experience in leading EMD programs and conduct of milestone reviews IDR, SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR
  • Familiarity with DOORS or Cameo
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • INCOSE membership or certification
  • Familiarity with DoDAF 2.02, SysML, and MBSE
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS)
  • Experience interfacing with large multi-site/multi-division teams.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate''s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
