Staff Development Specialist I (S)

The primary purpose of the Staff Development Specialist I is to provide training and staff development for employees at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. The Specialist I is responsible for assessing training needs, planning, assisting in developing, coordinating, implementing, documenting, and evaluating training programs. The Specialist I training responsibilities includes instructor-led, in person training, On the job training, training development, and training administration.

Salary Range: $47,703.00 – $83,479.00

Recruitment Range: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or in a behavioral health setting
  • Experience with training theory, principles, and techniques, and the uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources
  • Ability to assess training needs, development of objectives, recommend training goals, and evaluate student learning
  • Ability to adapt and communicate information to a wide range of audiences and in various situations
  • Demonstrated skill in assessing, planning, executing, evaluation, and adapting training to meet organizational needs

Physical Requirements:

Good physical condition to perform medium work (on occasion) exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Position requires ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, & carry out repetitive motions.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Hours: 1st shift (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Monday – Friday, with evening work as needed
