Pay Range: $47 - $55/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
- Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
- Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
- Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Prepare and disseminate project communication regarding vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, and outage planning.
- Develop client presentations, reports, and visualizations to demonstrate technical results and project status.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:- Must Have Skills: Must have a College Degree in CAD Design/Drafting or related technology field and min 7 years of experience supporting Design/Drafting for Electric Utility/T&D/OH or UG Distribution Design projects.
- Must have experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS and Distribution Systems.
- Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years related experience Required OR Associate Degree and 8 years related experience Required OR 9 years progressive detailing and design experience.
- 7+ years of experience, preferably in utility or power industry.
- Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
- Proficiency in distribution design software and GIS to aid in design.
- DDS, ArcFM, AUD, BOUD, etc.
- Strong knowledge of electric distribution infrastructure and construction techniques.
- Strong knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting for distribution projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
