Job Overview Design Engineering Lead – BD – Located in Covington, GA. The role drives development of reusable/capital electro‑mechanical medical devices from concept through design freeze, leading a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with stakeholders and external partners.Responsibilities Design reusable/capital electro‑mechanical medical devices from concept through design freeze.Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.Engage internal and external stakeholders (sales, marketing, regulatory, QA, manufacturing, procurement, engineering).Travel domestically and internationally to support NPD.Develop design documentation: user needs assessments, design specifications, test plans, risk analysis reports and technical files.Perform bench testing and clinical evaluation of prototypes.Collaborate with vendors and contract manufacturers to develop and test prototypes, ensuring seamless execution.Lead cross‑functional project teams, encouraging a cooperative and diverse environment.Negotiate with suppliers and manage external resources to complete projects on time and within budget.Direct technicians and mentor junior engineers and designers.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering.Minimum 5 years of experience in electro‑mechanical capital equipment design.Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documents.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work through ambiguity.Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations.Domestic and international travel required.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree.Experience in the medical device industry.Workplace Policy BD requires a minimum of 4 days of in‑office presence per week to support collaboration and culture.
