Role PurposeFocus will be the development of robust precision machine systems that provide significant competitive advantage to Corning's businesses, and / or enable new products and product lines (prototype, and production capable machines).Key ResponsibilitiesInterface with the Research, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing teams that are involved in the innovation and manufacture of new products and machine systems for any of Corning's BusinessesDesign and analysis of first generation /next generation products, machines, machine fixturing and machine components from a robustness of design perspective.Work with other project team members on solving difficult mechanical engineering related problems.Develop deep understanding of process requirements to influence equipment design functionality & performance.Integrate commercially available technologies and processes and effectively leverage external machine builders and system integrators.Utilize internal lab facilities and equipment to develop proof of concept prototypes.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams controls & process engineers, optical & glass scientists.Normal Business Hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, Flexibility in hours on an as needed basisExperiences/Education - RequiredEducation:Bachelor's Degree required, discipline in: Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Precision's, or related fieldsRequired Skills:Experience in designing and building complex mechanical systems5-10 years professional experience in Engineering requiredProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, & Inventor)Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailDesired SkillsProficiency with metrology tools and techniques (e.g., CMM, laser interferometer).Strong knowledge of precision machining techniques and materials.Innovative with strong technical curiosityTrack record of researching prior art and documenting Intellectual PropertyStrong understanding of precision engineering principlesSoft SkillsComfortable collaborating with a diverse project teamSelf-motivated & results oriented.Excellent presentation skillsThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $95,227.00 – $130,938.00 assuming full time status.
