About the Role
COMPANY is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support Overhead Transmission Line projects within the Technology, Commercial & Industrial market sector. This role contributes to the design, analysis, and detailing of structural components that support critical grid infrastructure.
The position sits within the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) team and focuses on producing high‑quality engineering deliverables using advanced CAD and modeling tools.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of Overhead Transmission design experience (required)
PLS‑CADD experience strongly preferred
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Experience developing structural models, drawings, and technical deliverables
Key Responsibilities
Function as a project engineering technician supporting structural and transmission design teams
Develop and modify technical drawings, models, and documentation using CAD/BIM/3D modeling tools
Apply engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design solutions
Review design inputs for accuracy and consistency; ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and detailed estimates
Provide technical guidance to other technicians and coordinate deliverables across disciplines
Support quality assurance efforts and apply COMPANY’s Quality Program to all deliverables
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with evolving tools and processes
Coordinate with internal teams and support field activities as needed
Education
Diploma or Certificate required
Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology preferred
