Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, the Staff Financial Analyst, reporting to the Director of Budget & Cost, will be part of an integral team that will compile data and statistics from various hospital departments, assist in monthly financial reports, complete surveys, and perform budget transfers and account analysis. The successful candidate will support the Senior Financial Analysts in carrying out the responsibilities of the Budget & Cost department. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior customer services skills and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties of a Staff Financial Analyst may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the compilation of monthly financial reports and statistics.
  • Serve as budget liaison to assigned hospital division and assist in budget development process.
  • Perform budget transfers and address issues with budget transfers.
  • Update and maintain Lawson, Campus Budget Module, Idea Budget and ERAS.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Perform grant administration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related, with Accounting concentration or coursework.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Accounting or Finance experience.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of finance principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and ability to synthesize and comprehend large quantities of data.
  • Must be comfortable with technology and be able to demonstrate proficiency with MS Office package, skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets in particular.
  • Knowledge of Lawson, SUNY BI, McKesson Idea.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related,

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $63,672 - 81,713 / year.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:

  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($4000)
