Staff Legal Managing Attorney - Maryland Zurich is currently looking for a Managing Attorney to manage our Baltimore MD, Pittsburgh PA and Ohio Staff Legal offices.The selected candidate will report to a Regional Managing Attorney and manage Liability and Workers' Compensation attorneys in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Ohio on behalf of Zurich's insureds. The Managing Attorney will not have their own caseload but will lead the Attorneys on the team who are responsible for representing the commercial insureds of our prestigious and financially stable commercial insurance carrier by preparing and trying moderate to high exposure cases from a challenging and varied caseload.This position will be filled by an experienced attorney who must be able to provide coaching and feedback on the most complex matters and highest exposures in the office.At Zurich North America we acknowledge that work life-balance and flexibility are a priority when it comes to choosing your next career move. The selected candidate can work from their home in the Baltimore area or in our Pittsburgh Staff Legal office.Basic Qualifications Juris Doctor and 10 or more years of experience in the litigation areathat includes significant first chair jury trial experience.Member in good standing in Maryland State BarExperience working with LexisKnowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environmentKnowledge of law and procedurePreferred Qualifications Member in good standing in the Pennsylvania Bar AssociationPrior management experience including demonstrated leadership courageFamiliarity with the defense of personal injury and worker's compensation claims arising from general liability, auto, and constructionExtensive knowledge of the law and procedureStrong litigation experience and capabilities including the ability to develop and mentor others on trial advocacyStrong change management and communication skillsStrategic, forward-focused mindsetEmbraces simplification and innovative opportunities with an emphasis on continuous improvementAbility to effectively collaborate, build consensus and influence outcomesAbility to manage a staff of 10 attorneys and 3 paralegals working in a hybrid model in two officesExperience working in a team-based environmentAbility to multi-task and adapt to a changing environmentAgility to navigate ambiguityEffective problem solving and analytical skillsYour pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases.
