Staff Pharmacist – Acute Care Inpatient Hospital (13-Week Contract)

Overview

A well-established healthcare organization is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to provide inpatient pharmacy services within an acute-care hospital setting. The pharmacist will support safe and effective medication use, collaborate with clinical teams, and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. This is a structured contract role suited for pharmacists experienced in inpatient operations and fast-paced clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify, prepare, and dispense medications for inpatient units
  • Review medication orders for accuracy, safety, and clinical appropriateness
  • Provide dosing recommendations, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and therapeutic drug management
  • Support transitions of care through medication reconciliation and patient counseling
  • Respond to stat orders, code situations, and urgent medication requests
  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding in line with USP 797/800
  • Assist with formulary adherence and clinical protocol compliance
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize therapy plans
  • Manage and troubleshoot automated dispensing cabinets
  • Document all clinical and operational activities within the EHR
  • Maintain accurate inventory control and ensure safe medication storage practices


Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license (state license for the region required)
  • Recent inpatient or acute-care hospital pharmacy experience
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacotherapy and clinical guidelines
  • Familiarity with major EHR systems preferred
  • Sterile compounding competency required
  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills


Work Environment & Schedule
13-week contract; approximately 40 hours per week within an inpatient hospital in the Central California region. Shift details may vary based on departmental needs.
