Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Staff Pharmacist for an evening-shift opportunity within an acute-care pharmacy environment. The pharmacist will play an important role in medication safety, reviewing and verifying medication orders and helping ensure pharmaceutical products are prepared and dispensed accurately and efficiently.
This position also serves as a medication-information resource for physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
Experienced pharmacists and new graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong candidates with relevant pharmacy experience outside the hospital setting may also be considered.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM-9:30 PM
- Rotating weekends, including every other weekend
- Rotating holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review and verify medication orders before dispensing.
- Support the safe preparation and distribution of medications and other pharmaceutical products.
- Provide medication-related information and education to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Utilize pharmacy computer technology and automated medication-dispensing systems.
- Promote safe and effective medication-use practices.
- Follow established pharmacy procedures, organizational policies, and applicable professional standards.
- Perform responsibilities independently within established guidelines.
- Provide appropriate supervision and direction to pharmacy support personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited pharmacy program.
- Current Massachusetts Pharmacist license.
- Ability to perform pharmacy responsibilities independently within established procedures.
- Ability to oversee and supervise pharmacy support staff as needed.
- Strong commitment to accuracy and patient medication safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of hospital pharmacy experience is preferred but not required.
- New graduate pharmacists are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with strong, comparable pharmacy backgrounds may be considered even without previous hospital experience.
- Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and unit-dose medication distribution is preferred.
- IV admixture and parenteral chemotherapy preparation experience is beneficial.
