Portal Pharmacy, our outpatient retail pharmacy located within Moab Regional Hospital, is committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered care to our unique community. This position is a full-time, benefitted position.
Anticipated schedule: 40 hours/week, with variable schedule to cover retail pharmacy operating hours.
Starting pay range:$134,513.60 - $162,177.60 annually 
 
Pharmacist Duties:

1. Pharmacy Operations

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Manage medication inventory, including ordering, auditing, and optimizing stock levels to reduce waste.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and wholesalers to maintain timely medication availability and accurate purchasing records.
  • Support compliance with the federal 340B program and promote its appropriate utilization.

2. Medication Dispensing/Patient Care

  • Accurately interpret, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, verifying prescription information for completeness and authenticity
  • Conduct medication reviews, including drug-drug interaction and duration of therapy
  • Maintain patient records and medication profiles
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information per privacy laws
  • Administer immunizations under defined protocols
  • Offer personalized consultations to patients and caregivers regarding medication-related concerns, usage, side effects, and precautions. Advise on over-the-counter products.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to prescriptions, insurance, and medication concerns promptly and professionally
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, ensuring comprehensive medication therapy management
  • Provide exceptional customer service, foster a welcoming atmosphere, and promote a patient-centered approach to pharmacy services

3. Training and Education

  • Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and students (when applicable)
  • Remain up-to-date on all licensure and hospital education requirements
 
Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Utah
  • Licensure to dispense controlled substances in the State of Utah
  • Provide daily consults with patients, patient’s families, staff, and providers
  • Possess excellent communication, human relation, and computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant pharmacy software)
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently, and as part of a team
 
Preferred
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting
  • APhA Immunization Certification
