Your Role
Akkodis is seeking a Staff Propulsion Analyst, Engine Performance for a Contract to Hire with a client in Long Beach, CA/ Centennial, CO. The ideal candidate with experience leading rocket engine and thruster performance analysis, combustion modeling, and thermal-fluid assessments to drive propulsion system design and development.
Rate Range: $80/hour to $130/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Staff Propulsion Analyst, Engine Performance Job Responsibilities include:
Develop and maintain integrated engine cycle, performance, and system-level models to evaluate liquid rocket engine and thruster designs throughout the product lifecycle.
Perform injector sizing, combustion analysis, and stability assessments to optimize propulsion system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal fluid, and regenerative cooling analyses to predict heat transfer, flow behavior, and operating margins.
Collaborate with design engineers, suppliers, and test teams to validate analytical models, interpret hot-fire test results, and support hardware development activities.
Create engineering tools, automated models, and simulation frameworks to support design trade studies, performance predictions, and decision-making processes.
Provide technical leadership, establish analytical best practices, mentor engineering teams, and drive continuous improvement in propulsion analysis methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
12+ years of professional experience in liquid rocket engine, thruster, or propulsion system analysis and development.
Strong expertise in engine cycle modeling, injector design, combustion instability analysis, CFD, thermal-fluid analysis, and regenerative cooling using tools such as ROCETS, Sinda/Fluint, GFSSP, Ansys Fluent, or equivalent.
Proven experience supporting propulsion hardware development, hot-fire testing, model validation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-performance liquid propulsion systems from concept through qualification.

Pay Details: $80.00 to $130.00 per hour
