Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Emergency Staff RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care in the Emergency
Department, utilizing the nursing process for a designated time frame. Provides care of these patients
according to Marshalls standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients,
visitors, physicians, and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Functions as the
patients advocate at all times. Oversees the performance of any non-professional whose activities
impact their patients care. Ensures the safe handling of infectious material and ensures patient and
staff safety at all times.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred within 6 months of hire
- Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) strongly preferred within 2 years of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire
Knowledge:
- 2 years RN experience required.
- ER experience preferred.
- Per Diem status positions, 2+ years Emergency department experience is strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of a RN and is able to
meet the pharmacology requirements of Marshall Medical Center.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with EPIC.
- Must have basic computer skills.
