Staff Scientist/Engineer - Acoustic

POSITION SUMMARY Epsilon is seeking a full-time staff scientist or engineer to work as part of the Epsilon team on a wide range of environmental licensing, permitting and compliance projects. This hybrid position will encompass work primarily in the Acoustics Group in our Maynard, MA office.

In the Acoustics Group, the successful candidate will assist with community sound level measurement programs, meteorological data collection, data analysis, shadow flicker analyses for wind turbines, sound level modeling, and report preparation. This position requires periodic field work as well as overnight, out-of-state travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will have:

• 0-3 years of experience in a consulting environment,
• B.S. or B.A. in Acoustics, Engineering, Environmental or Physical Sciences, or Physics,
• Experience in using sound level measurement and meteorological equipment,
• Experience with ISO 9613-2 sound modeling software (i.e. CadnaA, SoundPLAN)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, and
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

In addition to the Preferred Qualifications, the Candidate must have a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle for business travel, including proper insurance and registration, and have all necessary paperwork to work in the USA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB The Candidate must:

• Be able to work safely outside in variable weather conditions for an extended period of time, as necessary,
• Work on a computer for extended periods of time,
• Be able to travel outside of the state via plane or car, for extended period of time, and
• Be able to carry approximately 50 pounds on either paved paths, trails, or in fields.

SALARY RANGE Epsilons pay range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 USD per year. Pay is commensurate with experience and other job-related factors including but not limited to credentials, skill, and geographic location.

WORKING CONDITIONS IN WHICH THE DUTIES ARE PERFORMED Epsilon maintains a professional office located in an historic mill in Maynard, MA. Office space is recently renovated, clean, quiet, and friendly.
