Position Summary

The Staff Scientist will provide advanced technical support for translational immunology and neuro-oncology research focused on T-cell trafficking, tumor immunology, and CAR-T cell therapy for brain tumors. The researcher will perform and optimize complex laboratory procedures including tissue and blood processing, multiparameter flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemical staining, cell culture, CAR-T cell functional assays, cytokine analyses, molecular biology techniques, and animal tumor studies.

The individual will be responsible for data collection, quality control, laboratory recordkeeping, and analysis of experimental results.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Following instructions and discussions with the principal investigator, design research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification and management of data.
  • Process brain tumor and peripheral blood specimens.
  • Perform flow cytometry, T-cell phenotyping, and functional immune assays.
  • Conduct immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and image analysis.
  • Generate and evaluate CAR-T cells using in vitro cytotoxicity assays.
  • Perform cytokine profiling, ELISA-based assays, and molecular biology workflows.
  • Support murine brain tumor studies, including treatment administration and tissue collection.
  • Maintain experimental datasets, perform basic statistical analyses, and ensure rigorous documentation and quality control.
  • Document research topics and prepare and submit papers based on research work to publications and committees for publication or presentation to peers.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
  • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
