This includes a variety of valve functions and technologies, leading design trade-off studies, analysis and testing to establish guidance for current and future product designs. The Senior Staff Engineer provides leadership in the areas of mechanical elements and fluids design, analysis tools and methods, materials selection and test methods. This role involves high level industry/Customer contact and industry awareness. The Senior Staff Engineer is viewed as an internal design authority and may be asked to provide technical oversight across multiple projects.Staff ResponsibilitiesProject leadership: leads and manages complex mechanical engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and technical standards.Technical advisory: provides expert guidance to management on advanced mechanical engineering solutions and best practices to enhance product development and process efficiency.Process improvement: develops and implements innovative mechanical systems and methodologies to optimize operational efficiency and product quality.Problem solving: analyzes and resolves intricate engineering challenges by applying sophisticated analytical techniques and innovative thinking.Cross‑functional collaboration: partners with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical engineering solutions into broader organizational initiatives and projects.Staff SkillsMechanical design: expertise in designing and developing complex mechanical systems and components.Project leadership: proficient in leading cross-functional projects from inception to successful completion.Analytical problem solving: skilled in using sophisticated analytical methods to resolve complex technical challenges.Technical advisory: provides expert guidance to leadership on advanced mechanical engineering initiatives.Cross‑functional collaboration: effectively collaborates with multiple teams across different disciplines to achieve project goals.Innovative solution development: identifies and implements innovative engineering solutions to address business challenges.Process improvement: recommends and applies best practices to enhance engineering processes and services.Complex systems analysis: capable of performing in-depth evaluations of intricate mechanical systems and data.Strategic communication: communicates complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse stakeholders.Advanced technical acumen: demonstrates extensive technical knowledge and expertise in mechanical engineering principles.Senior Staff ResponsibilitiesPlans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of a major project or in a total project system of moderate scope.Promotes and implements process improvements company-wide. May write product standard design guidelines.Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices, but includes a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, non-standard materials and difficult coordination requirements.Provides direct support of sales and development by sharing information in the form of major/complex proposals and design reviews.Independently troubleshoots/analyzes system problems.Senior Staff SkillsEffective written and verbal communication skills including presentations (Customer, internal and management). Writes and communicates critical reports. Leads complex design reviews, internally and Customer. Expert technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.).Competent complex problem solving/troubleshooting skills for both components and subsystems.Promotes a cross‑functional project team environment, communicates with customers and leads small teams. May participate in setting technical direction/product strategies. Provides technical problems‑solving guidance to others.Working knowledge of standards and the ability to apply complex groupings of standards into designs. Ability to quickly learn, interpret and apply new standards.Competent use and application of FEA tools; solid use of DFSS tools and methodologies; solid knowledge of engineering quality systems (PLC, engineering change, configuration management); solid ability to compute steady state results. Significant contributor to the design of complex products/systems.Complete understanding of component functions and testing requirements. Understands manufacturing processes, drawings and geometric tolerances as well as shop standards. May direct or lead several engineers.Ability to strategically prioritize based on business needs.May have company‑recognized expertise.
