The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining both backend APIs and frontend applications that support sensitive healthcare platforms. You will be proficient in Python for backend development and have experience with modern frontend frameworks such as ReactJS, Vue.js, or Angular. Your expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD), security best practices, and comprehensive documentation will ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our mission-critical software. Your work will directly impact patient care and enhance the efficiency of clinical staff by contributing to a platform that serves 30k+ patients daily through our Circadia Contactless Monitor (IoT devices)-a number expected to scale beyond 100k+ in the next 2 to 3 years.

Must-Have Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of Python and related frameworks (FastAPI, NumPy, Pandas, Pydantic) including multithreading and parallel design principles
Expertise in JavaScript and frameworks such as ReactJS, with solid frontend experience
Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles, best practices, and HTTP(S) as a protocol
Understanding of AWS, including knowledge of Cognito, Pinpoint, IoT, MSK and other services, with hands-on containerized deployments via Docker
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Experience with TDD and testing frameworks such as PyTest
Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, design thinking methodologies, and usability best practices
Understanding of security best practices and compliance in regulated environments
2+ years tenure in most recent roles
Top education and top schools/companies
Nice-to-Haves
Proficiency in C++ and TypeScript
Experience with Qt preferred but not required
Experience with Google APIs is preferred
Experience with AWS-specific services: Cognito, IoT, Pinpoint, Kafka/MSK
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare application development
Experience with CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, CircleCI, Prometheus, Grafana
Background in regulated industries (healthcare, life sciences, medical devices)
Design Acumen: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, visual hierarchy, and interaction design fundamentals; proficiency in translating complex healthcare workflows into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
Detail-Oriented: Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when developing APIs that handle sensitive healthcare data
Communication and Trust: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
Organization and Efficiency: Capable of managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously with a keen eye for detail

$150,000 - $225,000 a year
As a full-time Software Engineer, you will be employed by Circadia Health, Inc. The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $225,000. The base range is determined by role and level, and placement within the range will depend on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
