Registered Professional Land Surveyor

Overview

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of boundary, topographic, and specialized land surveys. This role oversees field and office operations, ensures accuracy and compliance, and signs/seals final deliverables. Offers a collaborative environment, continuing education support, and flexible/remote work options with minimal travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage survey projects from initiation to completion.
  • Collect, evaluate, and interpret survey data to produce maps, plats, and reports.
  • Review deeds, titles, easements, and legal documents for boundary determination.
  • Prepare and review legal descriptions and resolve boundary discrepancies.
  • Oversee field crews and ensure accurate data collection.
  • Monitor data quality, adjustments, and final boundary determinations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Maintain quality control across all survey outputs.
  • Review and approve final deliverables; sign and seal documents as required.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior staff and SITs.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RPLS license (Texas or relevant).
  • 2+ years of land surveying experience.
  • Proficiency in GPS, CAD (Civil 3D), and GIS tools.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying laws and standards.
  • Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with boundary, topographic, and specialized surveys.
  • Experience in legal descriptions, deeds, and easement review.
  • Familiarity with aerial imagery and geospatial data.
  • Interest in multi-state licensure.
  • Commitment to continuing education and mentoring others.

Work Environment

The role primarily operates onsite in locations such as Fort Worth, Midland, Irving, or Houston when candidates are local, with flexibility for remote work and minimal travel where appropriate. You will work in a smaller, collaborative team environment with a strong backlog of work, providing stability and opportunities to engage in a variety of project types. The organization supports fully paid continuing education and offers additional incentives or bonuses tied to successful completion of professional development activities. The work involves close coordination between office-based tasks, such as data analysis and preparation of deliverables, and field-based activities using GPS, GIS, CAD, and other surveying technologies.
