Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program management and automation engineering.
  • Experience leading the specification, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics, precision motor control, dispense, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.
  • Experience working with design teams early in the hardware lifecycle to ensure design for automation principles are incorporated into product architectures.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical, controls, mechatronics engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience with high-volume, high-precision consumer electronics.
  • Experience in Return on Investment (ROI) methodology and managing headcount/capital expenditure rollups.
  • Experience in comprehensive automation vendor management from initial request for proposal (RFP) and functional specification through design reviews, acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and factory deployment.
  • Fluency with NX or other CAD tools, DOE, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR), tolerance analysis, and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Influence product definition and architecture selection, in close collaboration with product design teams, via early design for automation engagement.
  • Generate detailed functional requirements specifications for automated adhesive dispensing, goal guided pick and place, sealing, screw driving, cleaning, conveyance, and other precision electronic assembly operations.
  • Partner with manufacturing and automation equipment providers to design, develop, and qualify, cost-effective, high-volume automated solutions.
  • Develop automation implementation schedules and provide technical oversight during factory and site acceptance testing activities.
  • Manage cross-functional programs with global teams and contract manufacturing partners to ensure factory readiness and successful product delivery.
