Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor"s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX, with a focus on hybrid visual and motion design.
• Experience with 3D design tools or motion graphics software.
• Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master"s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 12 years of experience in product design or UX, specializing in high-fidelity motion and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in Rive, After Effects, Spline, or Cinema 4D to build immersive 3D prototypes and virtual concepts.
• Experience using Generative AI for creative concepting and asset generation to expand design workflows.
• Ability to lead through mastery of craft and foster a culture of creativity across the design team.

Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. As a Motion Designer, you'll apply your passion for animation to simplify complex interactions and solve challenging design problems. You'll help define and implement Google's motion design language and you'll think critically about how motion reinforces Google's UX brand, enhances interactivity, and delights our users.

Google Beam is an AI-first, 3D video communication platform for life-sized collaboration.

As a Staff UX Designer, you will be a hybrid motion and visual expert who will design new platform experiences. You will bridge aesthetics and movement, prototyping and crafting narratives for 3D and AI products. You will solve ambiguous problems, pioneer generative AI workflows, and establish cohesive motion guidelines across environments.

Google Beam is a true-to-life new communication technology from Google that allows people to feel like they're having real face-to-face conversations, no matter the distance. Powered by realistic state-of-the-art 3D imaging and spatial audio and integrated with today's leading remote video platforms, Google Beam enables you to be immersed in the moment, together. As a part of the Google Beam team, you"ll work with incredible teammates across all major functions in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can't.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Define and galvanize the long-term product and user experience strategy for the Beam platform, driving alignment among cross-functional leaders.
• Pioneer the cinematic future of the platform by creating concept reels and high-fidelity motion mockups as a hybrid motion and visual specialist.
• Author a premium motion language and establish standards for visual and motion systems within 3D environments to ensure a cohesive identity.
• Partner with User Research to evaluate the emotional resonance and usability of premium motion and visual patterns through high-fidelity simulations.
• Resolve highly ambiguous spatial design challenges, including geospatial design and depth-based visual hierarchy, employing rapid high-fidelity visualization to scale features.
