Calculates and records required and actual staffing ratios based on staffing grids and patient acuity determined by Staffing Manager. Anticipates staffing concerns (under and over staffing) on a daily and weekly basis so that alternatives can be explored in advance as much as possible.
Collaborates with Staffing Manager to adjust daily staffing levels to achieve cost-effective staffing alternatives which meet patient care requirements by: Reallocating staff members among units including float pool and SAS. Canceling unneeded staff, including overtime, incentive and agency. Calling staff members for additional hours.
Modifies and keeps current the daily staffing sheets to ensure accuracy by reviewing and recording all requests, illnesses, absences, cancellations, etc. Promptly reports staffing concerns to the Staffing Manager.
Completes ANSOS and Kronos training and inputs staffing changes and schedules in keeping within the time frame of the ANSOS calendar. Provides ANSOS training to others as needed.
Takes complete and accurate messages and relays to appropriate personnel. Transfers incoming calls to appropriate departments.
Keeps current records of RN licenses from outside agencies.
Assists in formulating reports/responses to Nursing and other hospital departments for staffing information/statistical data.
Assists with tasks necessary for general management and organization of the Staffing Office.
Maintains certification file in ANSOS.
Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital.
Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.
Responsible for collaborating with the Staffing Manager, Administrative Supervisors, Nurse Managers and other Staffing Associates to anticipate and meet daily staffing needs based on acuity, patient care needs and census. Maintains staffing office records. Creates and updates daily staffing sheets and schedules. Interacts with staff and other departments through telephone, written, typed and verbal communication.
