The Service Specialist works under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director Talent Mobility Center of Excellence to coordinate clinical schedules and staffing on a daily basis. Assists with facilitating staffing resources, including supplemental staff and reassignment of staff in collaboration with leaders for optimum utilization of personnel. Performs a variety of clerical functions and tasks.

- Calculate suggested staffing requirements based on patient census and other staffing guidelines. Compare to available staffing and suggest alignment as needed.
- Receives daily sick/absent calls, reassigns staff and makes calls to cover as needed.
- Receives phone calls, answers staffing and personnel questions when appropriate, and relays messages as needed.
- Processes staffing changes by updating daily staffing boards.
- Coordinate assignment of float pool and PRN staff to meet the needs of the patients.
- Enters and updates data into API to ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Print daily, weekly and other periodic API reports as scheduled and as requested by leaders.
- Assists with auditing/analyzing API schedules.
- Acts as a resource for staff and leaders for API system.
- Is knowledgeable of current staffing and scheduling policies and advises leaders of discrepancies.
- Assists with maintaining staff schedules.
- Uses computers and computer systems to enter data and/or process information.
- Communicates daily with the leaders or designee to verify and facilitate daily staffing consistent with patient care needs.
- Communicates pertinent staffing plans for future shifts to on-coming Medical Center Coordinator.
- Effectively interacts with caregivers and leaders.
- Works independently and is capable of adjusting to changing environment.
