Norchem builds the equipment that keeps the commercial laundry industry running cleaner and greener. For 40 years we've been the ones behind the industry's biggest leaps - low-temperature cleaning systems, single-VFD automated injection, crossflow membrane filtration and recycling, and plant utility/labor information systems. We don't copy what's out there. We build what's next.
Right now our fabrication shop is busy, and we need a skilled hand who can lay down clean stainless bead and fit like they mean it.
We are seeking a high-energy TIG-MIG Welder with strong experience in stainless steel fabrication who will lend themselves as a valuable team player to our customer-focused fabrication department.
Why Weld Here
Steady, full-time work. Position with a 45+ year company, consistent hours, consistent workload.
Skilled work, not repetition. Stainless TIG, tank fabrication, pipefitting, full projects from cut to polish.
You'll build the actual product. The systems you fabricate ship to real plants and run for years.
Competitive LA pay. $28–$34/hr depending on experience, with room to grow as your skills do.
A team that takes pride in the work and a shop that keeps its tools and standards sharp.
What You'll Do
Build projects end to end - cutting, welding, polishing, and pipefitting - as directed by the floor supervisor
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to nail the exact welding requirements
Run MIG and TIG on stainless-steel components - pipe, frames, and tanks, to spec
Fabricate and weld stainless-steel tanks and vessels - rolling, fitting, seaming, and welding leak-tight assemblies
Operate fabrication equipment (shear, roller, brake/bender, chop saw) and support machine operators
Fit and weld to ISO, OSHA, and applicable QA welding standards
Follow, help create, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications
Keep your area clean, your equipment cared for, and your work safe and to standard
Lift and move raw materials and finished product, manually or by hoist (up to 50 lbs)
Prep finished product for shipment and travel for installations and field work as needed
Pitch in where the team needs it
What You'll Bring
3+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience
Strong hands-on TIG and MIG stainless-steel fabrication experience
Experience building stainless tanks/vessels (rolling, fitting, and welding leak-tight seams)
Ability to fit and weld - both, well
Pipe fitting experience
Advanced read on shop mechanics and blueprints
Sharp eye for flaws, steady hand-eye coordination, and the strength/stamina the job takes
Solid grasp of shop safety procedures
Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Associate degree or AWS certification a plus (not required - we care that you can do the work)
Before You Apply
The interview includes a practical skills test. You'll lay out a basic shape on plate and produce an acceptable weld bead on stainless plate and pipe.
If you can fit and weld stainless, you'll do great. If you can't yet, this isn't the right opening for you.
If you take pride in a clean bead and want a long-term home with a company that's been innovating for four decades, we want to meet you.
Apply today - bring your experience, your safety mindset, and your best stainless work.
