This is a safety-sensitive job for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.
PURPOSE:
Trainee Level position to learn the basics of overhead and underground design and staking.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the limits of approved board policies, operating guides and procedures, approved work plans and budgets, and specific delegation from the Staking Supervisor, the Staking Technician I, assumes the responsibility for the following activities, recognizing the continuing responsibility of this position for developing and maintaining a favorable Cooperative image consistent with the Cooperative Strategic Goals:
As the Staking Technician I:
1)Assist senior Staking Technicians in the design and staking of single phase and three phase distribution line.
2)Assist senior Staking Technicians in the layout of real estate developments, and relocations for highway departments and city planning entities.
3)Communicate with members.
4)Gather information for upgrades on homes and businesses as required.
5)Actively seek electric plant and idle services that can be retired and create work orders for retirement by the construction department.
6)Prepare staking sheets, material sheets, cost estimates, and other related clerical work associated with line staking.
7)Studies and stays informed of RUS construction standards, filed rate tariffs, applicable national and state electrical codes and cooperative line extension policies.
8)Learn to identify necessary changes to staking sheets after construction has been completed, prior to being placed on as-built prints.
9)Participates in activities related to mapping updates.
10)Create work orders in staking software.
11)Conduct field surveys for updating of GIS system.
12)Study and stay informed of RUS construction standards and applicable national and state electrical codes and cooperative line extension policies.
13)Develop and implement in-field equipment identification and marking system.
14)Assist with restoration/assessments during storms and outages.
15)Preserves confidentiality of company issues when relating to staff, customers, and public.
16)Always support the bylaws, guidelines, policies, and philosophies of the company at all times.
17)Provides Staking Supervisor with information for system improvement and aids in budget preparation.
18)Always support the Mission Statement and Core Values.
19)The Staking Technician I shall be required to perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the company.

2)Successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have all faculties necessary to meet position requirements and present a neat favorable professional appearance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Outdoor work required in a variety of weather conditions in addition to normal office working conditions. Normal Working hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional work outside of normal work hours will be required.
