Tesla START is an intensive 14-week training program that provides students the skills necessary for a successful career at Tesla to become either an Equipment Maintenance Technician OR Process Technician. During the program, students develop technical expertise and earn certification through in-class theory, hands-on labs and self-paced learning. This is a non-exempt position; students are hired into the program as a Tesla Technician Trainee with full pay and benefits. Successful graduates of the program will convert to a full time Technician role.

Equipment Maintenance Technician

  • Assemble electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment for production
  • Execute technician tasks independently after initial instruction
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on industrial production and mechatronics equipment: Electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, Mechanical systems, Conveyor Systems, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC and networks and Robotics

Process Technician

  • Support Engineering and Manufacturing by improving and drafting manufacturing instructions, including rework procedures, and ensuring up-to-date qualification schedules
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data under the guidance of Process Engineers, including but not limited to Design and Experiments (DOE) and Guage Reliability and Reproducibility
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives, managing parts and tools inventory, executing repairs and troubleshooting precisely according to instructed processes

  • Attend and pass each training session with a 70% or higher GPA
  • Must follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail
  • Be able to work in a team-based environment and achieve goals with a "safety first" attitude
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills, including navigating web browsers and using standard applications like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
