Job Description

As a State Capital Park Administrator with OMES you will enjoy:

Job Details

  • Full-time 40-hour work weeks.

  • Support the Capital Assets Management team

  • Salary based on education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the State Capitol Park service contracts. Establish, confirm, and certify that the work meets the terms of the contracts. Landscape and grounds maintenance management; provide for observation, appraisal, survey, investigation, assessment, testing, review and evaluation of the landscape turf and ornamental plantings, trees and shrubs, turf, and flowers.

  • Irrigation systems management; manage operation of systems, precipitation monitoring and adjustment to systems. Utilize computerized systems such as Rainbird IQ4 irrigation control and water conservation software.

  • Administers and enforces all park rules outlined in OAC 260:60 Manage / coordinate events and reservations that include an outdoor element. Provide management assistance over landscaping construction projects or other projects that may impact existing landscape within the park boundaries.

  • Inventory management of outdoor assets. Retain inventory of assets to continue in a specified condition. Make recommendations to leadership for the planned repair or replacement of park assets so that appropriate funding can be budgeted.

  • Monuments/Commemorations maintenance management of dedicated commemorative trees, water features, plazas, beds and raised planters and other outdoor hardscape assets as needed.

  • Operate and maintain park maintenance equipment; including a small fleet of autonomous lawn mowers.

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations or repairs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position works in both an office and outside, exposed to environmental elements for large percentages of the workday.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild/loud and could require safety equipment.

  • This position requires frequent standing, bending/ pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying up to 25/50 pounds / climbing ladders/stairs .

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associates degree in Agriculture or Applied Science in Horticulture

  • Minimum of five (5) years working in Agriculture, Landscaping or Horticulture environments.

  • Minimum of five (5) years in Park Management, Public Administration or a related fields.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

  • Parks and Recreation certifications

  • Certified Public Manager
