BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a site administrator, site principal or other appropriate administrator, plan, implement, monitor, and assess a preschool classroom instructional program.

- Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program which is consistent with District and Board goals and philosophies, site goals and specific objectives based on assessment of student needs. E
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of child learning and development. E
- Support "all aspects of the child" by addressing linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development. E
- Coordinate a balance between child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities. E
- Incorporate small-group and individual activities, with a minimum of whole-group instruction. E
- Employ strategies for working with children with special needs. E
- Understand and address the needs of English-language learners. E
- Involve parents and guardians in ways that enhance student learning. E
- Demonstrate understanding of cognitive process development E
- Intentionally integrate play and learning with the understanding that play is essential to activity-based learning and to the development of self-regulation. E
- Help children make steady progress in their physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. E
- Make intentional use of play and experience-based learning, using a combination of child-initiated and teacher-selected activities. E
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students with health, emotional, social and developmental needs E
- Communicate regularly with families regarding goals and objectives ofthe instructional program, student progress observed, needs or challenges and special accomplishments E
- Represent the District, Department and assigned school to local, state and other appropriate outside agencies while maintaining a positive and professional image. E
- Provide instruction and support to students with special needs in accordance with IEP, including participating in IEP meetings and utilizing support services as appropriate. E
- Maintain records regarding students including special education students in accordance with site, Department, and District policy, including preparation of reports regarding students and classroom matters as directed. E
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with site, Department, and District policy and practice and specific plans for substitutes as necessary. ?
- Cultivate a system of on-going collaboration and articulation with the elementary school

Education and Experience Required:
Experience: Two or more years of successful classroom teaching experience. Has recent and relevant training and experience in assessment, data analysis, working with second language learners. Experience implementing Open Court Reading program and administration of Desired Results Development Developmental Profile.
Education: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor''s degree, with major in child development/early childhood education and including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
Valid California Teaching Credential BCLAD or CLAD certification is desirable Valid Early Childhood Certification Valid California Class C driver''s license

Location: Work is performed 95% within the school classroom setting, 5% in an outdoor educational setting: recess, walking, field trips
Hazards: Working with active young children, trip hazards, and slippery surfaces
