Job Description :

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Monitors, maintains and repairs the campus boiler system and associated plant equipment; also supervises Stationary Engineers and/or Maintenance Mechanics performing related work.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs stationary engineering activities to ensure the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of the campus boiler system and associated plant equipment including performing preventive maintenance on steam boilers, cooling tower, plant chillers, and associated equipment. Analyzes and treats water to main steam boilers and associated systems and equipment. Maintains preventive maintenance schedules. Supervises Stationary Engineers and/or Maintenance Mechanics performing related work. (55%)
  • Responds to, or assigns to a Stationary Engineer or Maintenance Mechanic, service and emergency calls. On the off-shifts must handle service and emergency calls for any facility or maintenance issue, e.g. electrical, plumbing, RHVAC etc. (15%)
  • Maintains medical gas systems and pneumatic tube system throughout the hospital. (10%)
  • Works closely with any outside contractors and engineering firms to assure proper installation of equipment. (10%)
  • Maintains building elevator systems and coordinates repairs with external company to assure safety and reliability. (5%)
  • Must demonstrate personal accountability for knowledge and application of DOH, Joint Commission and IRCA requirements. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineer License
  • 4 years' experience with water tube boilers and associated equipment including maintenance, repairs, chemical water analysis, and water treatment
  • Knowledge of how to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Available to work off-shifts
