Overview
The Department of Medicine, Division of Digestive Diseases at Yale School of Medicine is seeking applications for a data scientist/statistician position. The selected applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Catherine Mezzacappa to study chronic liver disease and liver cancer using large-scale, longitudinal electronic health record data.
Principal Responsibilities:
In collaboration with investigators, contribute to data infrastructure design to create efficient and durable curated data resources.
Collaborate with clinical investigators on research projects by performing data cleaning and analysis using appropriate statistical techniques.
Conduct analyses to generate preliminary data for research feasibility, grant proposals, and regulatory grant reporting requirements.
Accurately document data curation and analytical approaches by creating detailed specifications for analysis files, consistency checks, tables, and figures.
Required Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience with statistical software such as SAS, R, or STATA, and proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.
Strong analytical and writing skills with a background in mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field.
Proven organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work independently.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience with healthcare data and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Knowledge of SQL programming language
