    Position Information

    Keeping Data Accurate and Records Organized

    The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS), Water System Operations Division, is looking for a Statistics Clerk I in Honolulu. This position participates in the set-up and maintenance of the automotive fleet operational and statistical cost data, and fleet inventory records. Work schedule is Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    What You Will Do

    • Set up, compile, compute and maintain fleet operating cost data, maintenance and repair cost data, and inventory records of the transportation and construction equipment fleet.
    • Determine and participate in appropriate categorizing of purchases by object codes and in the preparation of correspondence and documents to coordinate public auctions, disposals, and transfers of surplus vehicles and equipment.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

    Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

    Three (3) years of clerical experience, two (2) years of which shall have involved the gathering, compiling, and tabulating of numerical data.

    Applicable Skills Needed

    • Knowledge of: statistical methods, procedures, and techniques; statistical formulas in making computations; source data and methods and procedures of obtaining data; methods and techniques of graphic and tabular presentation; and office practices and procedures.
    • Ability to: collect, organize, and tabulate numerical data; and prepare statistical tables, charts, diagrams, and other graphic illustrations.

    Substitution: Business school or college-level credits from an accredited college/university will substitute on a month-for-month basis for up to one year of the general clerical experience. There is NO substitution for the two years of gathering, compiling and tabulating of numerical data.
