Position Overview
The STEAM Instructor for Summer @ The Brook is responsible for leading engaging, hands-on learning experiences for campers in the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, and game design for middle school students. This role is ideal for an educator or industry professional who is passionate about innovation, experiential learning, and inspiring students through project-based STEAM education.
The instructor will lead up to three themed weeks of programming, guiding campers through collaborative projects, skill-building activities, and culminating demonstrations.
Location: Stony Brook School, Stony Brook, NY
Program Dates: July 6 – July 24, 2026
Position Type: Seasonal, Summer (up to 3 weeks)
Reports to: Director of Auxiliary Programs / Summer Programs Leadership
Program Responsibilities
Week 2: Artificial Intelligence in Action
Week 3: Land Robotics Build and Challenge Week
Week 4: Robotics and AI Game Design
Required Qualifications
Experience teaching or working with students (ages 8–15 preferred). Experience with robotics platforms (such as LEGO, VEX, or similar) and/or introductory AI tools.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to translate complex concepts into engaging, age-appropriate instruction. Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for hands-on learning.
