JOB DESCRIPTION: STEAM TEACHER

Qualitfications: Current Alabama Teacher's Certification, bachelor's degree or higher in early

childhood or elementary education. Three (3) years of successful certified teaching experience.

Experience teaching STEM, Robotics, and/or innovative classroom instruction is strongly

preferred.Provide daily instruction related to STEAM (Science, Technology,

Engineering, Arts and Math) for students in grades K-5. STEAM goes beyond traditional STEM

(Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) by incorporating the arts to foster creativity,

problem-solving, and critical thinking. STEAM encourages students to think outside the box and

apply their knowledge in innovative ways.

Specific Duties:

Prepares and delivers high-quality, interactive STEM instruction for elementary students by

creating lesson plans that are culturally relevant for a diverse student population.

Coordinates opportunities for students to engage with industry/subject matter experts (e.g.,

guest speakers, visits to area laboratories, etc.).

Be a role model/mentor, promoting well-being, development, confidence, and success;

motivate and inspire all to be active students in STEM activities, encouraging their long-term

involvement.

Encourage the development of positive peer relationships among students.

Designs and adapts curriculum for students in a fun, interactive, and empowering learning

environment.

Ability to organize effectively (STEM nights at the school, Science Fairs, and district STEM

projects).

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Maintain STEAM lab/maker space with instructional materials to integrate core curriculum

standards

Teaching and facilitating hands-on project based learning experiences for students of

various ages

Incorporating artistic disciplines such as visual arts, music, drama, or digital media into

interdisciplinary projects.

Helping students express scientific or mathematical ideas through artistic formats (e.g.,

infographics, animations, sculptures, or performance).
