Steel Fitter/Welder
Penmac Staffing is hiring Steel Fitters/Welders for a local manufacturing company. This is a great opportunity for candidates with experience in metal fabrication and fitting who are looking for a long-term position. Responsibilities for Steel Fitter/Welder:
- Lift or move materials and finished products using large cranes.
- Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
- Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
- Locate and mark bending and cutting lines, accounting for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
- Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
Requirements for Steel Fitter/Welder:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Experience with fitting and welding processes.
- Must be willing to submit to a drug screen.
Pay and Schedule:
- $19.16 plus DOE
- Full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity.
- Candidates will train on day shift for several months, then transition to 3rd shift.
- 3rd shift hours: 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM.
