    Job Description

    Steel Mill Industrial Controls Electrician

Step into a role where your electrical expertise keeps heavy industry moving. You’ll support production and facility assets across the Roll Mill and Melt Shop, diagnosing issues fast, wiring with precision, and elevating uptime—always with safety first.

    A day in the life

You start with a quick pass through preventative maintenance tasks, verifying sensors and checking panels against schematics. A call from the Roll Mill sends you to trace a control circuit from 24VDC back to the main panel, where a relay needs replacement. Before lunch, you pull and terminate new control wiring, then wire a motor on a piece of production equipment. In the afternoon, you move to the Melt Shop to troubleshoot a 120V power circuit and perform repairs that get equipment back online—lockout/tagout (LOTO) followed to the letter and electrical codes observed throughout.

    What you will handle

    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
    • Work confidently on 24VDC through 480V electrical systems, including 120V power systems.
    • Wire motors and production equipment; pull and terminate electrical and control wiring.
    • Install, troubleshoot, and replace sensors, fuses, relays, and other electrical components.
    • Wire and terminate electrical panels; perform circuit troubleshooting and electrical repairs.
    • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
    • Execute preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
    • Follow all company safety procedures, electrical codes, and lockout/tagout requirements.
    • Work between the Roll Mill and Melt Shop as needed to support production and maintenance operations.

    What you bring

    • Experience as an Industrial, Maintenance, or Electrical Technician/Electrician.
    • Ability to wire motors and electrical equipment and perform control wiring.
    • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams; strong understanding of electrical circuits.
    • Basic understanding of PLCs.
    • Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting sensors and installing cable tray.
    • Proficiency wiring and terminating electrical and control panels.
    • Skill troubleshooting and repairing 24VDC–480V systems.
    • Solid grasp of fuses, relays, sensors, and motor controls.
    • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as a multimeter.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical problems safely and efficiently.
