STG International, Inc. is seeking a Exercise Physiologist to support Federal Occupational Health in Washington, DC.

This position may require you to work at more than one location.

Duties:

• Provide services for the identification of physiological mechanisms underlyingphysical activity; the comprehensive delivery of treatment services concerned with the analysis, improvement, and maintenance of health and fitness; rehabilitation of heart disease and other chronic diseases and/or disabilities; and the professional guidance and counsel of athletes and others interested in athletics, sports training, and human adaptability to acute and chronic exercise.
• Administer maximal graded exercise tests on appropriate patients (known or suspected coronary artery disease) referred by the primary care physicians, continually monitoring patients and preparing reports for interpretation.
• Provide patient education and follow-up on lifestyle interventions such as exercise prescription for patients with one or more diagnosis that may benefit from such counseling including patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, obesity, etc.
• Work in conjunction with the Health Promotion Department in developing a multifaceted weight management program for each patient.
• Devise a program for each patient, determining the exercises that are appropriate.
• Write an exercise prescription and use the fitness facilities to instruct patient in the proper use of the equipment, following each patient as appropriate to the clinical situation.
• Participate in monthly meetings to review and identify opportunities to improve treatment provided, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. Should a meeting occur outside of regular working hours, the HCW shall be required to read and initial the minutes of the meeting.
• Participate in the provision of monthly in-service training to members of the clinical and administrative staff on subjects germane to health promotions and wellness.
• Assist with the development and management of the Wellness Center, Health Promotion Program to educate and encourage all beneficiaries to improve their health and wellbeing through voluntary adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
• Provide exercise education through seminars, publications, individual counseling, and audiovisual media.
• Continually review current literature for preparation and development of exercise training aids, flyers, and brochures.
• Work closely with the Health Promotions Department to develop and oversee an extensive marketing program for safe exercise, injury prevention and fitness.
• Build and maintain a current local health resource directory.
• Coordinate fitness education activities and supplies for the Naval Medical Center's fitness programs on a monthly basis.
• Teach and lead a variety of fitness, aerobic and exercise classes as needed and determined by the hospital staff members.
• Maintain a level of fitness sufficient to lead and participate in exercise classes and fitness programs.
• Prepare clinical and administrative documentation associated with the program on a daily basis and as requested.
• Perform and analyze community needs assessment to include exercise habits, mortality and morbidity data, identification, and documentation of public and professional awareness on a quarterly basis and as requested.
• Conduct community awareness, public and professional strategies aimed at beneficiaries in the target population, designated primary care managers, health care providers and at professionals on a monthly basis and as requested.
• Maintain current knowledge of literature concerning treatment, prevention and other information related to individual fitness and injury prevention.
• Assist other departments and hospital staff members by teaching a variety of health promotion and wellness classes such as tobacco cessation, stress management, etc.
• Develop interpersonal relationships with local and national agencies related to exercise, fitness and injury prevention.

Required Skills Required Experience

Possess either (a) a master's degree in Exercise Science, Wellness, Sports Medicine, or Exercise Physiology, or (b) certification by American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) or the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

• Available to work overtime to include weekends and holidays.
