SR1 College Preparatory & STEM Academy
\nSTEM Educators and Coaches | GRADES K–5
\nCertified Educators and Non-Certified STEM Professionals
\nThose Pursuing Teacher Certifications Are Encouraged to Apply
\nCanton, Mississippi • Full-Time, School Year • Reports to the Provost and Central Office • Tuition-free public charter school (currently K–4, growing into 5th grade)
\nWe are seeking STEM professionals to serve as coaches and help lead our student robotics teams. A teaching license is not required—if you have a background in science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, or mathematics and enjoy inspiring young people, we would love to hear from you!
\nWe are not hiring someone to maintain our test scores. We are hiring someone who wants to prove a point and create generational success through technology education and social skills.
\nThere is a quiet assumption in this country that children from certain communities can not post top numbers. Our scholars already disproved it once. Now we are building the team that does it again, in STEM.
\nSR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy is hiring STEM Educators and coaches for grades K–5. We prefer candidates who hold a Mississippi teaching certification — or who are actively working toward one. And be clear-eyed about what this is: we are a startup school in year four, growing into 5th grade. Some of what you need does not exist yet. You will help build it. We want an entrepreneurial mindset — founding-team energy, not "that's not my role."
\nWhat you'll do:
\nDesign and teach hands-on, inquiry-driven STEM lessons for K–5 scholars — build it, test it, measure it, break it, try again
\nUse data to chase mastery, not just proficiency, and catch every scholar before they fall behind
\nHold the data up as a mirror — check your own numbers honestly to answer the only question that matters: is what I'm doing actually working?
\nFacilitate learning instead of lecturing — your scholars do the thinking, the talking, and the discovering
\nBring coding, robotics, outdoor learning, or making into the classroom (a plus, not a prerequisite)
\nAdvocate for education beyond your classroom walls — family nights, community events, neighborhood partnerships
\n️ Help build a K–5 STEM program other Mississippi schools want to copy Live our commitment to excellence — a high bar for every scholar, and the support to clear it
\nWhat we're looking for:
\n✅ Mississippi teaching certification is welcomed but not required. We encourage both certified educators and STEM professionals without teaching certification to apply. If you are pursuing certification or ready to begin an alternate route, we will support you throughout the process.
\n✅ Bachelor's degree in education, a STEM discipline, or a related field
\n✅ A startup, entrepreneurial mindset — you see a gap and build the bridge
\n✅ High energy, real creativity, and unshakable professionalism
\n✅ A willingness to be measured — you go to the data to find out if you're effective instead of waiting to be told, and you'd rather see an uncomfortable number early than a comfortable assumption all year
\n✅ Genuine warmth and the same high expectations for scholars of every socioeconomic background
\n✅ A conviction that a child's ZIP code and a child's ceiling have nothing to do with each other
\n✅ Bonus: coding (Scratch, Code.org, etc.), robotics (LEGO Education, VEX, Bee-Bots, drones, etc.), outdoor and place-based learning, or makerspace experience
\nSR1 CPSA is Mississippi's first and only STEM-focused college preparatory public charter school — tuition-free, mission-driven, and growing fast in Canton, MS. A Commitment to Excellence isn't a slogan we hang in the hallway; it's the standard we hold every adult in the building to, because it's the standard we hold our scholars to.
\nOur compensation averages about 2% above comparable roles in our area. (Please note we do not currently participate in PERS.)
